Gatlinburg Tennessee is located just outside Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It's is a bustling year round resort offering indoor and outdoor activities for all ages. A recent survey shows that Gatlinburg is the second most popular place in America for honeymooners, and they come from all over the country and from across the globe as well. With sophisticated facilities to meet all tastes and budgets, romantic getaways, family vacations, corporate meetings, and honeymoons can be easily accommodated in Gatlinburg.

The Mountain View Hotel was made semi-famous in the 1950's in a photo print by artist G. Webb, which turned into postcards and other items as it became a symbol of American campiness of the time, advertising one of the Ripley's Believe it Or Not establishments. At the time, in the early 1900's, Gatlinburg was a quaint town with only one hotel used by loggers and their families on weekends. After a hard week of work in nearby logging camps, workers would join their spouses and children for a weekend at the Mountain View Hotel.

The hotel later began catering to tourists traveling to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The huge kitchen in the Mountain View Hotel bustled with some of the best chefs in the South preparing delicious home cooked meals for guests. Evenings at the Mountain View were spent sitting in rocking chairs on the long front porch, which overlooked what is now the busy city of Gatlinburg.

Gatlinburg eventually became more tourist oriented with the establishment of a few specialty shops. Over the years, hundreds of shops have been built, and there is now something for every taste in Gatlinburg. Major attractions, great restaurants, convention centers, and many luxury hotels make up the heart of downtown Gatlinburg. Thousands of romantic chalets are available for vacation rental throughout the mountainous area of Gatlinburg, and a ski resort sits atop a mountain overlooking downtown Gatlinburg. This romantic city is located at the entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

According to the Chamber of Commerce, it is the second most popular place to get married in America and is the perfect place for a honeymoon or a weekend filled with romance. Many large conventions are held in Gatlinburg year round as are annual festivals and other special events. Very popular are arts and crafts shows, which take place throughout the year, and real estate still remains a good investment here as well, due to the tourism traffic and great location as a destination attracting notice from all over the world.
